THE GENERAL MOTORS CENTRE IN OSHAWA RANKED FIRST IN CANADA FOR VENUES 5,001-10,000 CAPACITY BY VENUE'S TODAY
MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2014 - (Oshawa ON) – Seven Global Spectrum-managed Canadian venues rank amongst the top venues in all of Canada, according to concert industry publication Venues Today Magazine for 2014.
According to Venues Today, the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, ON, ranked first in its size category (5,001-10,000 capacity) with 107,348 patrons, attending 36 events, grossing $5,888,645.
Hamilton Place in Hamilton, ON, a 2,205-seat venue Global Spectrum manages, ranked first in the 2,001-5,000-seat category, attracting 85,876 patrons to 81 events, grossing $3,576,906. The EnCana Centre in Dawson Creek, BC, ranked third in this category with 12 events, drawing 37,002 patrons and grossing $2,292,539.
Trailing right behind the GM Centre is the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre which finished second in the 5,001-10,000 capacity with 64,598 visitors to 38 events, grossing $2,297,282 and the South Okanagan Events Centre which finished third with 55,639 visitors to 25 events, grossing $2,213,127.

The Budweiser Gardens in London, ON, ranked first in the 10,001-15,000 capacity with 70 events, attracting 314,671 patrons and grossing $19,333,425. The FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON, secured the fourth position in the 15,001-30,000 capacity with 36 events, 190,010 visitors and a gross of $10,111,858.
The General Motors Centre has experienced an exciting 2014 leading up to this acknowledgement as they were the co-recipient of the Major Facility of the Year Award (under 8,000 capacity) at Canadian Music Week and ranked 85th in the world by Pollstar Magazine for their 2014 Mid-Year Worldwide Ticket Sales Report. The General Motors Centre also ranked among the top 100 venues for Venues Today Magazine’s Social Media Power 100 list when they placed 8th for venues 5,001 to 10,000 capacity.
